The
objectives and orientations of PARI.SY.A. are:
- The Treatment of Chronic Pain
and Pain in Cancer Patients and the accompanying distressing symptoms with
the aim of Quality of Life and Dignified Living, while also supporting the
Psychological, Social and Spiritual needs of Patients
- Home Nursing with Medical and
Nursing Care.
- Psychological Support for
terminally ill patients and their relatives and caregivers, both in the
Hospital and at Home
- To be a point of scientific
reference by promoting "Guidelines" related to the diagnosis and
treatment of pain and other symptoms.
- To promote the education and
specialization of health scientists (doctors, nurses, etc.) as well as the
information of patients, caregivers and the public.
- To promote its positions and
provide up-to-date information through the magazine it publishes, entitled
"Palliative Care".
- To promote every form of
volunteerism.
- To fight for the
institutionalization of pain and palliative care centers in hospitals, for
the implementation of the 1992 ministerial decision on home care in
hospital organizations, for the creation of new jobs / staffing of pain
and palliative care centers, for hospital beds, for addressing the daily
needs of terminally ill patients, etc.
- To fight for the change of
anachronistic drug prescribing and the marketing of all modern opioid
formulations.
The non-profit
Hellenic Society for Pain Therapy and Palliative Care - PARI.SY.A. has as its
main mission the scientific treatment of pain and its accompanying symptoms,
through:
Home care,
operation of municipal Pain and Palliative Care Clinics, information and
education of interested parties and organization of events, maintenance of a
medical information database and issuance of Instructions, management of a Pain
Registry, cooperation with Greek and international scientific organizations,
participation in research and other related programs, Volunteering promotion.
